Queen Scarlet was the ruthless ruler of the SkyWings. She was known to be very vain and loved treasure and jewels. She had a cruel love for the thrill of violence and combat so much that she had an arena built where she forced dragons to fight to the death for her entertainment. She reigned with fear and power. Scarlet did not care about other dragons and did not hesitate to take out her rage on innocent dragons.

Queen Scarlet had shiny dark orange scales and large orange wings. Because she loved treasures and was vain she often wore gold chest plates and other elaborate accessories. She had jewels embedded in her scales over her eyes and on her wings. Her most defining feature was the scar that disfigured the right side of her face. It displaced her eye and made most of her snout misshapen so that it revealed part of her jawbone. She acquired this scar from Glory during the escape of the dragonets after Scarlet captured them. After the dragonets escaped Burn held her as prisoner. In her absence from the Sky Kingdom, Scarlet’s daughter Ruby took the throne. While imprisoned she found a dreamvisitor which she used to threaten various dragons. After Peril helped her escape she used it in an attempt to get students from Jade Mountain Academy to take revenge on the dragonets for her.

Scarlet finds an ally in Soar, a dragon who used the magic of Darkstalker’s scroll. She uses his magic to cause trouble for the dragonets. With Scarlet threatening the dragonets Peril decides to go and stop Scarlet once and for all. In the Sky Kingdom, Scarlet manipulates Peril and uses the threat of her fire scales to temporarily regain her throne. She captures her grandson Prince Cliff and locks up Ruby. Ruby is able to escape and she reunites with Cliff. She then finds the courage to challenge Scarlet for the throne. Ruby is not a skilled fighter but Peril helps her by removing a spell that makes her Ruby and changes her back into her original identity, Tourmaline. As Tourmaline, she fights Scarlet and wins the challenge, becoming queen. Scarlet dies and her reign of terror ends.
