The Bay of a Thousand Scales is a vast archipelago located at the “tail” of the dragon-shaped continent of Pyrrhia. It is made up of hundreds of islands scattered across clear blue ocean, ranging from tiny sandy patches barely large enough for a dragon to land on to towering rocky outcrops rising sharply from the water. Many of the islands are covered in palm trees and lush vegetation, and their green and white colors appear like scattered jewels across the sea.

The bay is part of the Kingdom of the Sea and is ruled by Queen Coral of the SeaWings. Hidden among the many islands was the Summer Palace, once a major SeaWing palace magically enchanted by the animus dragon Albatross to grow from a single rock. After it was destroyed in a SkyWing attack during the events of the War of SandWing Succession, its ruins still remain in the bay. Other important locations include the Deep Palace, an underwater palace, and the Island Palace, while the SeaWings are currently constructing a new palace meant to be visible and used for diplomacy.

The Bay of a Thousand Scales has also played an important role in several historical events. It was where Riptide first met the dragonets of destiny, and it served as the location of Blister’s hidden base during the war. Because the bay contains so many islands and hidden coves, it has often been used as a place for secret hideouts and isolated dragons who prefer to live away from the rest of the tribes.
