Good day, dear dragonets !

Again I am here as a mere intermediary between our users, youth and adults. Let see the chain: our dragonets already do the homework, our team of Preceptors choose the best task, Timothée our incredible Head of Academy sends it to me and I publish it.
So... teamwork is what really works!! and we should not forget it neither should I.

Lila Everfall

Flying - Year 3 Week 3

Lila was grouped with another student that she was familiar with: Arabella Haven. When they were paired up, Lila immediately suggested that they do the third design: the suit that had flaps in between the arms and legs. That one seemed the most simple; the parachute idea was a little too dangerous for Lila's liking- Being dropped from the sky and left on your own? There was a 75- no, 90% that you would get hurt. The other one that was made out of wood and leather seemed the most ideal, but Lila didn't want to go through the tedious work of creating it and having the design fail because of a flaw.

The bag of fabric that Preceptor Marvelles had brought had many different types, ranging from linen to leather to polyester. Lila rummaged through the entire bag, dodging questions from Arabella about the fabric. Yes, Lila liked Arabella, but she felt like Arabella asked too many questions sometimes. Lila was familiar with fabric, after all, she was someone who loved designing clothes, so she had to have a general knowledge of fabrics. She had a specific fabric in mind: Nylon. Nylon was a fairly stretch fabric, and even better- it was waterproof and extremely durable. It was an ideal material for Lila, at least. She couldn't think of anything better.

At the very bottom of the bag, Lila found an entire sheet of black nylon. Score. She also pulled out a sheet of cire, a type of metallic, shiny nylon, and told Arabella to stop searching the other bag, and they went back to their desk, Lila smoothing out the fabric while walking.

"So, if we are doing the suit, then we'll have to have someone experiment with it," Lila declared. After all, Lila did need the measurements for the suit. Arabella immediately said, "You can do it. I don't mind." Lila blinked. So was she going to do all the work? Honestly, that was fine by her, but it would be nice to have an extra pair of hands. "Are you su-" Lila began, but Arabella cut her off. "Really. I'm fine." Lila internally groaned. Guess she would have to prep her first-aid kit. Hopefully Arabella could think fast.

Sketching quickly on a piece of paper, Lila drew out a design. It wasn't the best quality, but it was still good enough. The suit would be solid black, with some silver accents from the cire. It looked quite elegant, in Lila's opinion. Even if it didn't turn out right, she could at least have the satisfaction of creating it.

Lila then measured herself around the waist, hip, bust, calves, ankles, biceps, and wrists. She wanted to be cautious with the suit, and she didn't want to take any risks. Better be safe than sorry, especially in this situation. Next, she cut the fabric so that it would fit around her slender frame. She then began sewing all the pieces together to make the basic foundation. Later, she would add the fabric between the arms and legs, and the silver accents.

Class was ending soon, so Lila packed up her prototype and went to go finish it back in her room. "I'll meet you at the cliff tomorrow morning at 9:00, okay?" Lila suggested, and Arabella agreed. Lila made a mental note to remind herself to bring a first-aid kit, filled with salves and gauze, things like that.

~A la time skip to the next morning~

Lila stared at the prototype that laid out in front of her. It was fairly beautiful, in a sort of elegant, unearthly way. The silvery, metallic fabric really helped in making the outfit seem elegant. Black and silver were always wonderful together. Extending the arms and legs of the suit, Lila glanced over the fabric for a final glance-over, then went to go put it on.

She was a little tired, considering the fact that she had stayed up later than usual finishing it up. Designing it had poured adrenaline into her veins; she didn't even notice the time until she finished it. That resulted in her slight exhaustion this morning, but hopefully it wasn't too bad. She needed to stay wide awake for the task ahead of her and her ultimate goal, which was not to get the prototype to work. In fact, it was to stay alive- and not get hurt.

Yawning and grabbing the medical kit that she had prepared last night, Lila headed out the door, making her way towards the cliff. There were not going to be classes there today, or at least Lila hoped. She didn't need other people witnessing her failure- If it did fail. Arabella was already one person too many. While Lila was walking, she earned some strange looks at her attire.

Out of all the ideas that Preceptor Marvelles presented, Lila thought that either of them could work to make scavengers fly. After all, it would ultimately come down to the person who created it and their work ethic. If they were detail-oriented and careful, then any of the ideas could work, honestly. But Lila's favorite would always be the suit; after all, it was Lila's one of favorite things to do.

Lila finally arrived at the cliff, where Arabella was already waiting for her. "You're late," Arabella said. "No I'm not. It's 9. The time I said that I would be here," Lila argued. "Um. No. It's 9:30 right now. I've been waiting for 30 minutes," Arabella countered. Oh. Lila lost track of time. Again. "Fine. I'm sorry," Lila replied tiredly. "Anyways, I finished it." Lila extended her arms and displayed the suit. "Took a while, but I did it." "Well, time to try it, right?" Arabella suggested. Internally groaning, Lila responded, "Yes. It is." She handed Arabella the medical kit. "Keep this. And be fast. I want to get the least amount of injuries as I can." Arabella took the medical kit from her reluctantly. Then Lila jumped.

Quite a daredevil move, if Lila did say so herself. Did she trust her suit? Yes. She felt like she had done a good job on it- she was really proud. She extended her arms and legs out, enabling the fabric in between her legs and arms to catch the wind beneath her. "WHOO HOOO!" Lila squealed as the suit caught her weight, making her float. "It works!" Lila called up in Arabella's direction. Faintly, she heard Arabella call out "Great! Now see if you can get back down! I'll meet you down there! " Oh. How would she get down. A bunch of crazy ideas bubbled up in Lila's head, but none of them seemed reasonable to her.

Well, that was the point of bringing the first-aid kit, right? Might as well put it to use- There was no other good idea that Lila could think of. Bracing herself, Lila forcefully put her hands by her side and put her legs together to disable the fabric flaps. She plummeted to the ground. Probably not the best idea, but the only one that Lila could think about. Yes, her prototype did work- which was good- but there was no good way to get down- at least, Lila didn't know any good ideas. Lila fell to the ground- flat on her stomach. "Owww," Lila groaned as she flipped over to her back. There were scrapes along her arms where she fell through some trees. The material there was ruined a bit- the branches had torn through the fabric. That was easy to fix though- but Lila wouldn't mind creating another suit.

Arabella rushed over when she saw Lila on the ground and immediately opened the medical kit and passed Lila the gauze and salves that she had stowed away. "Well, that went well," Arabella said softly. "Yeah. Until I fell," Lila responded, muttering complaints about her sore body.

~Another time skip to that night~

Lying on her bed, Lila thought about the events that had happened that morning. If Preceptor Marvelles wanted to use dragons, that would probably be more painful. It would probably involve a dragon dropping them from the sky- and them having to make split second decisions. Which would be painful. Turning over with another complaint and groan, Lila fell asleep, exhausted.

An incredible homework with a perfect RPG. Of a great extension something that I personally admire very much and, of course, fulfilling all the requirements that the Preceptor of Flying: Morrigan Marvelles requested.
Congratulations, Lila, for your work!

And next week, another homework from our young dragonets!
