Hiii! I am Liz Summers, and this is my blog, Informational Animals. In this blog, I will be writing about different animals and sharing cool facts about them! The animal I will be writing about in this blog will be… *insert drumroll*
They live almost only in the Southern Hemisphere, only the Galápagos penguin, is located north of the Equator. Penguins have counter-shaded dark and white plumage and flippers for swimming. Most penguins feed on krill, fish, squid, and other states of sea life which they capture with their bills and eat whole while swimming. A penguin has a pointy tongue and strong jaws to grab slippery prey.
- A group of penguins in the water is called a raft but on land, they're called a waddle!
-Penguin feet are adapted to walk long distances.
-While other birds have wings for flying, penguins have adapted flippers to help them “fly” in the water.
-Penguins can drink seawater.
-The black and white “tuxedo” look worn by most penguins is a clever camouflage called countershading.
-Gentoo Penguins are the fastest of all penguin species!
