Hello, Academians!
It’s Roman here, bringing to you another little bundle of knowledge on Pyrrhia and Pantala’s history. Today, we’ll be learning about the Legend of the Hive.
The Legend of the Hive is an ancient story retelling the arrival of the first dragons on Pantala and the tales of the breath of evil, passed down through generations of LeafWing dragons.
According to the Legend, the dragons who had arrived to the new continent were greeted by peace. The land seemed to be perfectly normal at first glance, so the night’s events came as a great surprise. The dragons woke from their sleep covered in colonies of fire ants. The little creatures worked relentlessly, trying to bite their way through the dragons’ scales, not letting go even when the dragons plunged into the ocean, trying to rid themselves of the ants. That was very unusual behaviour from such animals, but it didn’t stop there! The ants were just the beginning.
In the morning a swarm of bees attacked the dragons, and later, even stranger groups of insects. Venomous centipedes, flies, bombardier beetles… and after those attacks, even more dangerous animals. Rattlesnakes, lions and murders of crows worked together like a single, humongous creature controlled by a single brain as they came down on the dragons. They never found anyone behind the attacks, the island was deemed completely deserted, after many years of searching.
But what the dragons did find was a certain plant, what they called breath of evil, that grew everywhere on the island. They discovered that when they destroyed this plant, the animals would go back to normal, causing them no trouble as long as they stayed within the areas cleared of breath of evil.
