Highlight Class!

Hello everyone! Welcome back to… *long pause* HIGHLIGHT CLASS! by Brinley Sade!

Today, we will be talking about a class that focuses on the fun side of school! It’s from years 1-5, and is one of the most interactive classes here! Can you guess? Let’s dive into… recreational sports!

Our first year starts out with the basics of sports! There’s cardio exercises, and you learn tons of different stretches! Even though they can be boring sometimes, stretches are very important. Without them, you could get hurt while playing your sport. We end the class off with a game of tailball! That sounds fun!

Year two focuses on what it means to be fit! You go along the body parts, such as the lungs and respiratory system, and finally get to muscles, bones and even weak spots. On week 9, there is some anatomy-inspired cooking, and another dragon game!

Year three. Wow! Basically halfway! We’re at Olympic Sports, and how to GET THE GOLD! I’d say this looks like the most fun year to me.  You get to play and learn about all the sports in the Olympics! This includes track, gymnastics and badminton!

Tis the season to -- play sports! Now, time to find sports by season! Summer, winter, spring and fall all have different, amazing sports that they collaborate with! They also do exercises, and have rotation stations!

Oh look! You’re in your last year. It’s been fun-- but now it’s time to get even fun-ner. In this year, you study the difference between single and team sports. There’s golf, billiards and ping pong! I can’t wait to be in year 5 to take this class.

Now, I’ve asked the lovely Oliver Kreed about his class! He’s worked so hard on this absolutely amazing subject. Here are the questions and his answers!

Here are his answers!

1. If you could link one adjective to your class, what would it be?

I would say different! I think all classes especially on JM are different but you will find that my class takes a different approach to maybe some more mundane topics. Seeing as I teach Recreational Sports, these are things that aren't as fun or inherently whimsical as the other classes so i do my best to spruce them up and add an element of surprise to each lesson!

2. What was your favorite lesson you wrote?

My favorite lesson that I wrote for my current class is year 5 week 2, titled Ping Pong Purr. I won't give away too much about it but I like to think it's a very effective class on teaching students the ways of table tennis.

3. What would you say makes your class unique and awesome?

My classes are different because I like to focus on the experience of the class instead of doing a lot of research. Most of the lessons if not all can be done just with your imagination. I want to see how the students react to each class, and give them a place to build their character whether they like sports or not! I also try to make sure i'm covering a wide range of sports, even some I don't enjoy myself, that way my class is as thorough as possible.

Thank you so much Oliver!

And thank you so much for reading my blog y’all! I’ll see you next week, with another Highlight Class!
