Plants from Pyrrhia
Volume #1

Hello everyone! My name is Ivy, and welcome to my blog about plants. Today, we’ll talk about Smokeberries from the Wings of Fire series.

Used by RainWing healers, you’d think Smokeberries were a completely innocent member of the Rainforest Kingdom’s plants. However, that is not the case.

If you eat too many, the berries will give you the strangest hallucinations! Scavengers with superpowers, flying panthers, anything you can imagine. Itching to try a Smokeberry? Well, good luck finding it! Buried in the depths of the forest, you’ll have to take a trip to the Rainforest Kingdom if you ever want to eat one.

It should also be noted that Smokeberries only give hallucinations if too many are ingested. RainWing healers use small quantities to put dragons into a deep sleep.

By the way, did you hear the story about the dragonet who travelled to the Rainforest Kingdom? They were actually one of JMA’s very own students! This dragonet had heard stories about Smokeberries and wanted to try one.

Raising the berry to the light, they got ready to ingest it. Sunlight streamed through the trees’ leaves, dappling the ground with golden honey. The berry was silhouetted against the rising sun, making it look very epic and cool.

Then the dragonet ate the Smokeberry.

And nothing happened.

Returning to the Academy, they decided to make up a wild story about an adventure in the Rainforest Kingdom. Their friends collectively believed it, even though not a single word was true.

The dragonet probably didn’t eat enough Smokeberries. All that probably happened was that they got a little sleepy!

Even though the Smokeberry has some interesting abilities, it’s completely harmless to dragons (besides the weird hallucinations). It’s probably not a good idea to ingest a bucketful of them, but you get the point!

I hope you enjoyed my blog for this week- leave a comment about the coolest plant you know. Who knows, maybe I’ll post about it in the future?
