Plants from Pyrrhia

Exploring plants

Hello hello!

This is another edition of my blog, which focuses on plants. Today we’re discussing the Corpse Flower!

This plant has developed a rather interesting method of surviving. To attract pollinators, Corpse Flowers give off a terrible scent, earning them their name as they literally smell like a rotting corpse.

Corpse Flowers look like a huge flower, one with a spike sticking up right in the middle. They are mostly pale gold, the color of a SandWing’s scales, but have hints of green and blood red.

Did you hear the story of the dragonet and the Corpse Flower?

Apparently, JMA hosted a field trip to the Rainforest Kingdom years ago. A dragonet wandered off, curiously investigating a strange smell. It almost resembled the stink of a dead body?

The dragonet never found the source of the smell (which must’ve been a Corpse Flower) and instead got lost. They wandered the Rainforest for ages and ages, convinced that they were going to be murdered! There were already dead bodies, what would stop them from joining the fallen?!

As I was listening to this story (told to me by my very legit anonymous sources), it occurred to me that the dead bodies must’ve been there for a while to smell so bad. If it’d been that long, wouldn’t the murderer have moved on by then? Oh well, I guess it didn’t occur to the dragonet.

Panicked, the poor student wandered so far into the forest, they were never seen again.

Just kidding! The Preceptors of Herbs and Healing and Wilderness Survival worked together, easily tracking down the panicked dragonet. The Herbs and Healing Preceptor identified the smell as a Corpse Flower, and sure enough, tracked down the plant only a few feet away.

That’s the end of the story! Make sure to leave a comment about the coolest plant you know so I can make a post about it. Don’t forget to drink water and eat vegetables, everyone!
