A guide to Pyrrhia!

Greetings, Dragons of Pyrrhia & Pantala!

Pyrrhia. The continent where the majority of the wings of fire books are set. Due to it's large size, its different regions and inhabitants vary greatly depending where you go.

How much do you really know about Pyrrhia?

Let's find out!

All about Pyrrhia!

Overall, there are 7 very different tribes native to Pyrrhia, let’s take a quick look at each tribe and their attributes.

Tribes of Pyrrhia
  • MudWings ~ Known for being big, buff, and strong. Usually in shades of amber, brown and burnt gold. They can also breathe fire when warm and hold their breath for up to an hour. Their diet consists of mainly meats and such.
  • SeaWings ~ Usually blue, pink, green, or purple, and have a much shorter stature. This tribe also has strong tails to make waves, can breathe underwater, and have bioluminescent scales that glow. Usually SeaWings eat fish/other seafood and such. It’s speculated that they possibly eat ocean plants like seaweed/kelp in the oceans of Pyrrhia.
  • RainWings ~ RainWings come in all sorts of colours, and can change them. Additionally, RainWings can even become invisible using their scales! They can also spit venom from their front fangs that eats through any organic material. Apart from that, they also have prehensile tails. This tribe is also mostly herbivores, although a few do eat meat by choice as it is not a strict rule/diet.
  • NightWings ~ NightWings come in a variety of very dark colors, such as green, purple, or blue, oftentimes with silver accents. Some born under full moons may have mind reading and/or foresight. They can also breath fire! Most NightWings are carnivores.
  • SandWings ~ This fire-breathing tribe usually has a sandy yellow/beige colour and dark eyes. They also have a barb at the end of their tails that develops poison once they are around two years old. The majority of SandWings are confirmed to be meat eaters, but are also shown to eat certain fruits such as persimmons and coconuts.
  • IceWings ~ This tribe has freezing frostbreath and serrated claws to grip the ice around them. Usually IceWings are pale or pastel shades of blue, purple, and maybe even a more teal tint. IceWings eat a lot of arctic animals such as seals and the likes out of the arctic oceans off the coast of Pyrrhia.
  • SkyWings ~ SkyWings have significantly larger wings and hotter fire, and are known for being pretty irritable. They are in a variety of colours including red, orange, and occasionally a more yellowish color. SkyWings mainly eat meat/animals in general.

Geography of Pyrrhia
  • Each terrain around Pyrrhia is quite different, and of course fits the nature of the tribe residing there. As an example, the Ice Kingdom is subzero, which is a comfortable temperature for the IceWings to live in.
  • In contrast, the Sand Kingdom is rather hot and sandy, accommodating the SandWings perfectly. This is located in Additionally, Brightsting cactus is native to their deserts making it possible for any barb injuries to be healed.
  • The RainWings (native) and NightWings (only moved there a few hundred years ago) live in the Rainforest, where the humidity makes for quite the joyful outdoor experience.
  • The Sky Kingdom could be compared as a mixture of the Sand Kingdom’s heat with the rocky terrain of the Claws of the Clouds. Overall it’s relatively warm and sunny.
  • The Mud Kingdom is…exactly what it sounds like. Very muddy but with a touch of humidity, so basically like cooking brown goop. How- lovely. Either way it’s what the MudWings enjoy, and that’s that. Side note ~ It’s noted that the mud has a level of healing properties for the MudWings, but it’s unclear to what extent that is.
  • Finally for the Kingdoms, the Sea Kingdom is also how it sounds- it’s the specific area of ocean on the east coast of Pyrrhia. It has a variety of sea creatures and numerous living areas for the SeaWings.
  • In Pyrrhia, there is three neutral territories that is not owned specifically by anyone- Possibility, Sanctuary and The Scorpion Den. These places welcome both purebreds and hybrids that were not welcome in their own tribes. While Possibilty and Sanctuary are more viable condition - wise, the Scorpion Den is known to be a bit more ruthless and such. Definitely a more harsh area of Pyrrhia.
Pyrrhian Society
  • Most tribes have different punishment/job systems but they all have something in common: Queens. Each tribe has one ruler each (excluding the Rain/Night Queen) that works in a simple fashion: once a daughter, sibling, or niece feels they are ready to take the throne, they challenge the current queen in a battle to the death; whoever wins becomes queen. However, this process was skirted around multiple times throughout history such as when the plague killed the late Queen Glacier and she passed it directly to Snowfall. Or when Queen Glory challenged all the current RainWing queens in a sort of competition.
