The Lost Heir

In today’s SEO blog, we will explore the Wings of Fire book The Lost Heir. Spoiler warning ahead!!

What was the basic plot like in The Lost Heir?

At the end of the Wings of Fire book The Dragonet Prophecy, Kestrel tells Tsunami that her egg was stolen from the royal hatchery. Tsunami had a hunch that she was royalty, but now that she knew that it was true, she wanted to meet her mother- the queen of the Seawings. Once Tsunami finds a fellow Seawing named Riptide in a strange way, the dragonets get on their way to the summer palace. After meeting the queen, and Tsunami’s little sister, she learns that a mysterious killer has been murdering each heir to the Seawing throne.

In The Lost Heir, Tsunami spends more time with Riptide. We find out he is Web's son and lied about not knowing him. We also find out that Anemone is an animus dragon. Tsunami discovers that Coral has two female eggs inside the royal hatchery where the killer rests. Tsunami volunteers to watch and protect them after Tortoise failed to protect both eggs. One egg remained for Tsunami to protect. The seawing stayed in the hatchery, determined to catch the murder. Surprisingly, the murder had been the statue of Orca the whole time, and Orca had been a secret animus. Tsunami protected the egg, and she hatched, named Auklet. Webs was also found in the Kingdom of the Sea. He came to beg for forgiveness. Coral threw him and Riptide in jail. After all this, the Dragonets of Destiny were ready to go, but Burn didn’t want them to leave. She convinced Coral to lock them up. Thankfully, an attack from the Mudwings and Skywings allowed the Dragonets to escape and let Webs and Riptide out as well.

Mother-Daughter Relationships

Tsunami and Coral love each other very much, but the both have very different opinions on things. Tsunami finds many of Corals rules and punishments harsh, while Coral finds them necessary. Tsunami believes that it is best for dragons to be independent, while Coral thinks her dragonets need care and protection.

Tsunami and Riptide

Tsunami and Riptide both really like each other. Riptide is super affectionate, and amazed towards her, and Tsunami thinks about him all the time. He helps her forget about things Tsunami hates thinking about, and he makes her feel better about herself. Tsunami hates that he lies to her twice, but her love for him is to great to dislike him. But her trust in him was broken, and Tsunami is not sure how it will be fixed. In the Dangerous Gift, the two dragons met again and they hugged, showing us that Tsunami is slowly forgiving Riptide.

What Do You Think?

  • Do you think Queen Corel is one of the better mothers in Wings of Fire? Or is she one of the worst mothers?
  • Is Tsunami right to be upset at Riptide at the end of The Lost Heir?
  • Did you appreciate Tsunami’s character growth during book two?
