Have you ever wondered about the ship Cleril? Keep reading and you'll be an expert.
Shipping typically refers to the fandom's belief, in this case Wings of Fire, that two or more characters from a piece of media should be in a some sort of relationship. This concept often inspires a wealth of fan creations, especially fan fiction and fan art. Ships can be categorized into three distinct classifications: canon, partially canon, and non-canon. This classification depends on the degree of support the pairing receives from official source material, such as books, shows, or films. Canon ships are those that are confirmed within the original story, while partially canon ships have some level of evidence or suggestion from the source material but are not fully recognized. Non-canon ships, on the other hand, lack any official backing and exist mostly within fan interpretations and creative works.
Clay and Peril first meet at the Sky Kingdom, where Clay is Queen Scarlett's prisoner, and Peril her champion. The two quickly become friends, and Peril comes to talk to Clay when she has time. The two do favors for each other and it tightens their bond. Tsunami can tell that Peril has feelings for Clay but Clay is oblivious to it. After Peril finds out that Clay hatched from a red blood egg, and is somewhat immune to fire, she gathers more feelings for him. He was the only dragon she could touch without the other dragon getting burned.
Throughout the book, Clay and Peril help each other get through things, sometimes intentionally and sometimes unintentionally. Clay helps Peril get through her period of thinking no one believed in her. He gives her a shoulder to lean on when everyone else is too afraid to spend time with her. When Clay is at the Sky Palace, he also hides Peril and lets her watch the trial Scarlett didn't want her to see. In the Wings of Fire book, Moon Rising, we see Peril appear at Jade Mountain Academy with no place left to go, and Clay happily lets her stay. Tsunami shows her displeaser about Peril showing up and staying, and so does Winter. This shows how much Clay cares about her.
Peril feels a deep, protective attachment to Clay, a bond that exceeds the usual boundaries of friendship. At the end of book one, she thought she didnt desurve to be with Clay becuase he made her happy. But at the end of book five, Peril sees him again, and saves him from defenite death. Clay was bitten by a dragonbite viper snake, and thankfully Peril got there in time to burn out the venom. She saved him. In Wings of Fire, Escaping Peril, she thought of him almost always. She wants to be with, by him and talking to him. She went to kill Queen Scarlett for Clay's revenge, not her own.
