Do you know what the War of Sandwing Succession is? Keep reading to gain more knowledge! *Spoiler warning for Wings of Fire Arc one!*
The War of Sandwing Succession was one of the main conflicts of Wings of Fire, Arc One. Surprisingly, this huge conflict started with a small group of scavengers. These three adventurers wanted every scavenger's dream, dragon treasure. They break into the Sandwing palace to steal the gold, but on the way out, the scavengers run into Queen Oasis. The scavengers kill the queen of the Sandwings and then leave with the stolen treasure. One scavenger was left behind though, and the Sandwing prince, Smolder took her in as a pet. He named her Flower and didn’t let his sisters use her for revenge.
The Nightwings had been living on the volcano island for thousands of years. Queen Battlewiner and other Nightwings came up with a scheme to get land. They would create a false prophecy about five dragonets who would choose the next Sandwing Queen. The Nightwings would make a deal with one of the sisters, and she would help the Nightwings gain land.
Blaze was known for being ditzy and clueless, simply put. She ended up allying with some SandWings and all the IceWings, but she did so without any price to pay. This alliance was made with a promise to the late Queen Glacier that Blaze would give up all the borderland to her if she won.
Burn was the most ruthless of them all, and this often clouded her judgment, overshadowing her logical thinking. Throughout the war, she commanded a strong group of fighters because she allied herself with both the SkyWings and MudWings—two powerful tribes both in terms of physical strength and numbers. Additionally, she was responsible for the injury to Dune's wing and leg.
Finally, there was Blister. She was the smartest of them all and played her cards carefully throughout the war. She had a brief alliance with the MudWings, but after Tempest’s assassination, that alliance ended, and she shifted her focus to Burn. However, her long-standing alliance with the SeaWings remained intact. It is speculated that Coral was fully aware of Blister’s plans regarding the Dragonets, but no one knows for certain.
When the Dragonets of Destiny call all the dragons of all the tribes together to peacefully choose the next sandwing queen, Blister and Burn don't have the same idea. Blister gives Burn a gift, which is two Dragonbite Vipers. The snakes kill Burn, and one bites Clay. Thankfully, Peril shows up just in time to save the Mudwing. Blister and Blaze then face off and fight for the crown. While the princesses were fighting, Flower pulls Sunny over to Queen Oasis’s grave. Sunny, Glory, Tsunami, and Flower dig it up and find the Eye of Oynx. Sunny gives the Eye to her mother, Thorn, knowing she would rule the Sandwings fairly.
