Have you ever wanted to learn more about Nightwings? If yes, then you should keep reading because that’s the tribe we will talk about today.
The Nightwing tribe is nocturnal and has the ability to blend into shadows and the night sky. Nightwings can breathe fire, and modern Nightwings have mouths filled with bacteria that can poison animals with just a single bite. They also have a strong sense of smell and very powerful night vision. If a dragonet hatches under one full moon, it can either possess the power of foretelling or mind reading. If an egg hatches under two full moons, the dragonet will have both powers. A third full moon will enhance these abilities. At one point, it was believed that a third moon could grant animus powers, but this idea was later disconfirmed; animus powers are genetic. The strength of a dragonet's abilities can vary—for example, Clearsight encloses exceptionally strong foresight. When the NightWings traveled to the volcanic island, this knowledge was forgotten, and eggs stopped hatching under the moons, possibly intentionally. When a NightWing egg is touched by moonlight, it turns an eerie polished silver color, while untouched eggs remain their usual ebony black.
A Nightwing with mind-reading powers can only observe the thoughts of those around them; they cannot delve into a dragon's mind. They can only listen to what is being thought at that moment, which may come in the form of pictures, emotions, or words. During the time of Darkstalkers, dragonets learned how to block mind readers, but this ability has since been forgotten. If a dragon hatches under a blood moon, it can project its thoughts to any dragon, not just to other mind readers. A Nightwing with prophetic powers can see visions and glimpses of the future. Occasionally, they experience true prophecies that come with words instead of images. During the time of Darkstalker, these visions were often crafted to sound like authentic prophecies. If a prophet is particularly powerful, they may be able to follow individual timelines, similar to Clearsight's abilities. Futures are often described as a web because they overlap and can easily become intertwined. If a Nightwing prophet is hatched under a blood moon, they can see natural and catastrophic disasters with remarkable clarity. When a Nightwing prophet delivers a prophecy, their eyes will glow, and their voice will become low and shivery.
NightWings have forked black tongues, and their scales range in color from pitch black to purplish-black, with some displaying deep blue or dark green hues. The underscales and the underside of their wings often feature patterns of scattered silver, resembling stars in the night sky, and these patterns are typically passed down through generations. Their eyes come in various dark colors, including dark green, purple, blue, brown, and black. NightWings can blend into the shadows, allowing them to remain unseen when they choose to do so.
They inhabit the rainforest, located not far from the RainWings, though they originally lived in the Lost City of Nights, also known as the Old Night Kingdom. NightWings are known for their mysterious nature and manipulative tendencies, often striving to keep their weaknesses hidden from others.
Nightwings have had very tense relationships with a lot of the other tribes. The Nightwings almost got into a war with the Rainwings. They wanted the Rainforest for land. But the Rainwings didn’t want the Nightwings to take over. Their relationship with the RainWings has been very problematic because the Nightwings used to kidnap them and use them for experiments. A suggestion was proposed by Starflight that Glory should be the Queen of both tribes, and the Nightwings and Rainwings would live together in the Rainforest peacefully.
