Today, we will take a trip to the wonderful Kingdom of the Sea, home to the SeaWing tribe. Keep reading to find out more!
The Kingdom of the Sea is located off the eastern coast of Pyrrhia. The borders are a little ambiguous, so SeaWing territory might include some of the coastal land, or it might just be the ocean. On the other side, we don’t know how far into the eastern ocean it goes; the borders might go all the way around the planet (but probably not).
Viewed from above, the Kingdom of the Sea might look like a relatively flat plane of water (an ocean), but its SeaWing inhabitants know that it is much more below the surface. There are many coral reefs, underwater trenches, and rock formations. Above the surface, there are multitudes of islands, the same ones that make up the Bay of a Thousand Scales, in fact. Some of these islands are just little guys, but others are giant, cliff-walled, jungled behemoths. A few islands conceal hidden structures.
The Summer Palace was destroyed by Burn’s forces 2,003 years after its creation. The palace’s location was a secret, but, during the events of The Lost Heir, Webs was unknowingly followed by a MudWing named Crocodile, who brought the attack with her. Said attack ended up destroying the palace, leaving few survivors. The primary source of destruction came from a technology known as firebombs, which are simply logs that have been set on fire.
The dragons of the SeaWing tribe have to live somewhere, and while they might have smaller towns throughout the kingdom, their only confirmed living structures are the Summer Palace and the Deep Palace. The Summer Palace was an above-water structure created by the first SeaWing animus, Albatross, many centuries ago. It was located inside of an island. The main structure was a twelve-story, natural-looking structure that Albatross enchanted to grow like a living thing. It was destroyed by Burn’s army during the War of SandWing Succession.
The Deep Palace is the primary palace for SeaWing royalty. It was built in an underwater gorge covered in a coral reef. The palace itself is also made of coral and has sapphires and emeralds embedded into it. There are many rooms in the palace; most notable, though, is the royal hatchery, where future heirs can safely hatch. Another important place is the now abandoned Island Palace. It was where parties for guests were held and also where the Royal SeaWing Massacre took place. Now, the Island Palace is only used once a year for the Talons of Power ceremony, where dragonets are tested to see if they possess animus magic.
The Kingdom of the Sea appears a few times throughout the Wings of Fire series. First, in The Lost Heir, the Dragonets of Destiny go there after escaping from the SkyWing Palace. Tsunami meets Queen Coral after finding out that she is the queen’s daughter. After that, she proceeds to solve a mystery that has gone unresolved for years. Later, in Talons of Power, Turtle goes to the Kingdom of the Sea and fights his sister, Anemone. The Kingdom of the Sea also appears in Darkstalker, where we witness the Royal SeaWing Massacre.
