The Rainforest is a region of the Pyrrhian continent. It is made up of lush green rainforests and jungles, as the name suggests. It is the most biodiverse area of the continent, home to a wide variety of plants, animals, and insects. The Rainforest is vibrant and full of color. There are many different kinds of bright, tropical birds and flowers. There is plenty of food in the form of fruits and prey animals.
Its natural dragon inhabitants are the RainWings, who benefit from the bright, humid warmth of the area. Some theorize that ancient LeafWings once lived in the Rainforest, too, before migrating to Pantala. As of The Dark Secret, the NightWing tribe also occupies part of the Rainforest, setting up an independent village some distance from the primary RainWing village. The Rainforest Kingdom is one of the safest kingdoms to live in and appears many times throughout the first two arcs.

The Rainforest is a prominent location in the Wings of Fire series. It may well be the most visited kingdom in the first ten books, appearing in about six to seven of them. (Lily: EBONY YOU DID NOT D:<) The tropical forest is first mentioned in the very first book of the series, when Webs steals a RainWing egg to fulfill the Dragonet Prophecy after the loss of the SkyWing egg. The Rainforest first appears in book three: The Hidden Kingdom, when the Dragonets of Destany make their way there after fleeing the Kingdom of the Sea. There, they learn that RainWings are mysteriously disappearing, and Glory decides to figure out what’s happening to them. She discovers that the NightWings are capturing them and taking them to an island. Glory then challenges the RainWing queen for the throne so that she can lead a RainWing attack on the NightWings.
In the following book, while Starflight, the POV character, spends little time in the Rainforest, the rest of the protagonists are there, and we do visit it briefly. It is here that the NightWings swear allegiance to Queen Glory in return for sanctuary in the Rainforest. The final book of arc one, The Brightest Night, begins in the Rainforest, and again a majority of the protagonists stay there for the duration of the book. The Rainforest is an important part of Darkstalker’s plan to become king of the NightWings, since that is where they live. Therefore, it appears a few times throughout arc two, as Darkstalker convinces Queen Glory to hand over the NightWing crown to him.

The primary location within the Rainforest is the RainWing Village, home, of course, to the RainWing tribe. It is a sprawling town within the tree canopy, with many simply decorated huts and platforms, and hammocks to sleep in. There are walkways throughout the village and several notable structures, including the healers’ hut, the wingery, and the royal pavilion.
