The Forgotten Isles are an archipelago with one main island, the Dungeon Isle. The Dungeon Isle is the primary location of Book 16: The Hybrid Prince. It is based on Australia and consists of a large, dry, flat plain surrounded by mountains. There are lots of natural rock formations, including one formation that resembles claws, which the Triumvirate uses as a hideout. There is snow in the south, and there are lakes and waterfalls scattered throughout the mountains. One of the main locations is the Court of Refuge, a large palace-like building that houses the inhabitants of the isle. It is very large and made of wood with large windows. It was created by the animus SeaWing Waterfall and enchanted to last forever. There are many tunnels and rooms, as well as plants and orchards to support as many dragons as needed.

The Dungeon Isle was originally intended as a prison for the LeafWings and BeetleWings, after their alleged assassination of the SkyWing queen and the forming of a secret, multi-tribe village. It was enchanted by the SkyWing animus Precipice with a border that allows anyone in, but not out, unless they are a direct descendant of Queen Retribution and Queen Summit, or have two enchanted eggs, which were hidden in a cave in the south. As the years passed, many dragons were lured onto the island or found their way there and became trapped. Precipice also created a small army of little metal dragons called SharpWings to keep an eye on the prisoners. The SharpWings categorize any new prisoners and keep watch over the most dangerous. If anyone tries to escape the barrier, the SharpWings will be notified, and multiple attempts will also cause one to be monitored by the little metal dragons. There are two enchanted eggs that, if raised right and returned to the island, will cause the barrier to come down and free the prisoners inside. As of now, that has yet to occur.

Since Iām writing this article before the rest of Arc 4 comes out, we have a lot of room to speculate on the future of the Forgotten Isles. There will likely be four more books in the arc, and it may take all four for the protagonists to free the island. The ending of The Hybrid Prince left a lot of loose ends and cliffhangers, so there are a lot of issues that will need to be addressed throughout the story, not just the conclusion to the island. I think it is likely that the dragonets that hatch from the eggs will play a direct role in shutting down the barrier. Since they are enchanted, like the island, they may act as a sort of key, having a unique ability that could free the prisoners. I believe that one or both dragonets will be the POV characters of their own books, and they will have to make the right choice, maybe agree on the right choice, and free all the dragons trapped on the island. We will have to wait and see, though!
