Confessions of a Counsellor

Hello lovely scavengers and dragons of Pyrrhia!
I am Orion Everglade and I would like to invite you on a trip through the wonderful World of Jade Mountain! We will be interviewing people from all over the site to get to know them and their jobs better. If you're interested, keep their words in mind, you never know when you'll be given the chance to take a position as they did! For our next interview blog, we have none other than...drumroll, please...Ulalia Collymore our amazing Counsellor of Hall Monitors!

In your own words, what does it mean to be a Counsellor?
I'd probably have to say that it's beyond just enforcing the rules and leading a team. It's apart of learning about the community that I've come to love and accept as my family. It's about making sure that people I care about are happy and it means making bonds with people that if I were to meet in real life, we might not even be friends without knowing that we have so much in common.
Which parts of your job do you enjoy most and least?
My favorite part would have to be stalking around and learning more about everyone's characters and the person behind the character as well(Fin and the backstory team aren't the only ones who get to stalk stuff!). I love reading all of the amazing topics and ideas that users come up with, a lot of them are things I would never have thought up until I came upon them! My least favorite part would have to be warning those about their behavior. Being a Counsellor requires good judgment and doing things on other people's behalf even if you may not fully agree with it.
What's the hardest part of the job?
The hardest part of the job is when someone quits the team. With every grep I've had as a colleague so far and in the past, I feel as though I've made some sort of personal connection with them. Some of those who have left I still talk to on the daily, and miss them, especially ones who went above and beyond in their position!
What are some pros and cons of your job?
Pros are definitely having amazing colleagues, both my fellow goldies and greps! They keep me going, and I can always have a good laugh with them about almost anything! Cons would probably be it can be quite stressful, especially on such an active site like this one. It requires way more dedication than many realize, but it's something that I'm so happy to be doing.
If you could do any other job on-site, what would you choose?
I would love to be either a Welcome Mentor or a part of the Backstory team. Welcome Mentors are specific to this site, so that means that other sites don't have this team, which I think is awesome! Backstory team has always held a special place in my heart(I've probably done the most work on that team on another site than any other student job I've had) and I would go back to that job in a heartbeat if I had enough time to balance more jobs and school/theatre.
If your job could have any other color which one would you choose?
Well, my favourite colour is a beige of sorts, so probably beige! I mean, It's half yellow, so it works, right?
Thank you everyone and stay tuned for more Interviews and blogs! If you feel like writing a blog is your thing, feel free to contact me, Orion Everglade, or apply to be a member of the lovely Social Media Family! Until next time!
